Occupation First Aid (OFA) Level 3  | 

The WorkSafeBC Occupational First Aid Level Three course is a 70 hour program designed for remote worksites or employers with large workforces more than 20 minutes from medical aid. Initial certification requires full participation and course attendance plus passing both a written and practical exam. Upon successful completion the participant will receive certification that is valid for three years. 

The course curriculum includes:

  • Basic Life Support & CPR 

  • Patient assessment

  • Critical airway & respiratory, interventions with C-Spine management, including insertion of oral airways, suction, use of oxygen therapy equipment and bag valve mask

  • Circulatory interventions and management

  • Small wound, soft tissue, and fracture management

  • Rapid transport criteria

Occupation First Aid (OFA) Level 2  |

The WorkSafe BC Occupational First Aid Level One course is an 8 hour program.  In order to be successful, candidates must demonstrate practical skill competency and achieve 70% on a multiple choice exam. On successful completion of the course, participants receive a 3-year certification.

The course curriculum includes:

  • Basic Life Support (CPR) 

  • Minor Wound Management

  • Critical airway, breathing and circulation interventions

  • Medical Conditions

Transportation Endorsement 

The WorkSafe BC Transportation Endorsement course is an 8 hour program focusing specifically on the transport of injured workers to medical aid. In order to participate in this training a candidate must hold a current OFA Level 1 certificate at a minimum. This certification is valid for three years upon successful completion of course. In order to be successful, candidates must demonstrate practical skill competency.

The course curriculum includes: 

  • Patient packaging for transport include supine and lateral positioning for trauma, ¾ prone drainage and position of comfort

  • Review of patient assessment with added Primary Survey skills

  • Critical airway & respiratory, interventions with C-Spine management, including insertion of oral airways, suction, use of oxygen therapy equipment
